PNNL provides scientific equipment for research and innovation. They aim at increasing U.S. energy capacity and reducing dependence on imported oil through research of hydrogen and biomass-based fuels and also reduce the effects of energy generation and use on the environment. The research facilities include the environmental molecular sciences laboratory, applied process engineering laboratory, radiochemical process laboratory, bioproducts, sciences and engineering laboratory, marine services laboratory etc. Some of the core capabilities include chemical and molecular sciences, applied nuclear science & technology, chemical engineering etc.
