PlasBlast Decontamination System

Category: Decontamination > Mechanical Surface Removal > Plastic Pellet Blasting
Reference # : Model No : 4040

The PlasBlast Decontamination System utilizes plastic media (PlasTek) for surface decontamination. This process uses compressed air or centrifugal wheels to project plastic media at the surface. The sharp-faceted particles fracture on impact, leaving new sharp edges to allow continued use for stripping. In general, the plastic media are selected to be harder than the coating. In typical applications, the air pressure measured in the range from 10 to 60 psi. The higher pressures remove coating faster but also are more likely to induce substrate damage. A vacuum system is used to collect the media and removed surfaces. Dimensions of Tech Model (LxWxH): Weight of Tech Model (lb.):

Benefits

Simple to operate and maintain. Plastek is recycled several times before disposal, thus reduces waste volume. PlasTek is certified incinerable. Decontaminates without removing surface metal. No size limitation on parts to be stripped. Special fittings are available to reach obstructed surfaces. Can selectively remove individual coating layers. Relatively lower operating costs than CO2 or liquid abrasive systems

Limitations

Surfaces to be decontaminated have to be dry surfaces Media has flammable characteristics. Support equipment is required for media recovery, recycling and dust collection .
