NIKET

Category: Waste Management > Waste Treatment > Absorption
Reference # : Model No :

NIKET is an inorganic sorbent based on nickel ferrocyanide. NIKET-K, a composite version, is a microparticle nickel ferrocyanide, chemically fixed on granules of natural aluminosilicate. Nickel ferrocyanide selectively removes ions of cesium and thallium from aqueous solutions, as well as ions of transition and other metals. The presence of sodium and potassium ions does not reduce the capacity of the sorbent for cesium.

For removal of cesium radionuclides under static conditions (an addition of sorbent into the solution, followed by stirring and separation), it is recommended to use 0.5 - 1% of NIKET by volume in the cleaning solution. If contact time is not less than 2 hours, the recovery rate of ions is not less than 99%.

In a dynamic mode, it is recommended to use the NIKET-filtering solution with a speed of 10 column volumes per hour with a sorbent layer of at least 30 cm. The optimum ratio of height to diameter of the sorbent column is 2.5 – 3.5.
