The cooling cap was designed in association with medical authorities to assist people receiving chemotherapy and to assist in the cooling of critically ill people in initial treatment. It has been established that by cooling the scalp before, during and after chemo, there is a marked decrease in hair loss and the cap achieves this in a comfortable effective manner. While the cap is effective in cooling the scalp, not all oncologists recommend scalp cooling. It should be discussed with the consulting specialist before considering its use. The cap has also proved effective in the treatment of migraine headaches. The cap can be used cold or hot and it can be used in sport, work or in any situation that cooling or heating of the scalp is needed.
