PCRS is a chemical coating removal method that was developed by Pegasus International, Inc. for the removal of chemically resistant coatings (i.e. epoxies, polyamines, chlorinated, rubber, elastomeric, aluminum, vinyls, mastics, and most marine coatings). The PCRS-7 is an organic solvent mixture, light beige in color, carries a slightly sweet odor, and is supplied in 1, 5, or 55 gallon plastic buckets. Depending on the substrate and operating conditions, PCRS-7 is applied by pouring directly from the bucket or from a smaller container, and long- and/or short-handled spreaders or trowels are used to distribute it evenly across the surface. It can also be applied by using a sprayer to spray the chemical on to the surface. Once distributed, the chemical is covered by a single layer of white freezer paper. Removal of the PCRS-7 and coating is achieved by lifting up and removing the paper, followed by scraping the surface using trowels and/or large plastic shovels. Benefits

Can remove coating from complex surface geometry's that blasting cannot reach. No maintenance costs are incurred. No special service is required following successful coating removal. Additional coatings may be applied after a 24 hr. drying period.

Limitations

Surface must be clean & dry. Dependent on applied coatings characteristics may be ineffective on some coating types. Cannot be used near any possible ignition source as PCRS vapors form an explosive with air. Decomposition products may be hazardous
