TAWARA_RTM Water Treatment Plant Radiological and Nuclear Threat Detection System
Category: Characterization > Sampling & Analysis Equipments > Environmental Sampling Equipment
Reference # : Model No :
The TAWARA_RTM project aims to create a platform for Water Treatment Plants to improve drinking water security against deliberate or accidental Radiological or Nuclear threats. The system includes a Real-Time Monitor (RTM) for continuous measurement of gross alpha and beta radioactivity, a Spectroscopic system (SPEC) for nuclide identification in case of alarm, and an Early Alarm Detector (EAD) for gamma radioactivity monitoring at the water intake.
Benefits
Provides real-time measurement of radioactivity in water to ensure compliance with European legislation and prevent contamination. Helps in identifying the nature of contamination to find proper counter-measures. Continuous monitoring improves water security and reduces potential risks to public health. Can be installed at various water intake points to protect the entire waterworks infrastructure.
Limitations
Requires regular maintenance and calibration to ensure accurate and reliable readings. Dependent on the availability and quality of power supply for proper functioning. High initial investment cost for installation and implementation. May require additional training for operators to effectively use the system
