Mobile Packet Monitor
Category: Characterization > Monitors > Radiation Monitors
Reference # : Model No : 2340-20
The Mobile Passive Neutron Coincidence Counter (PNCC) Assay System is a compact and portable system designed for quantitative measurements of plutonium-240 effective content in Pu/MOX fuel samples. It consists of two main components: a Packet Monitor and a Workstation. The Packet Monitor includes a Passive Neutron Coincidence Counter (PNCC) and a Gamma Spectrometer, while the Workstation houses the neutron counting electronics, power sources, main computer, and provides a user interface for data combination.
Benefits
Compact and portable system with two instruments mounted on one chassis.
Adaptable neutron assay system design configurable for either Passive or Active measurements.
Automatically adjustable collimator reduces dead-time effects and gamma measurement time.
Am-241 background can be eliminated by use of Cd absorber filters.
User software enables both the neutron and gamma instruments to function as an integrated system or independently.
Limitations
Requires specialized knowledge and training to operate effectively.
High initial investment cost.
Sample measurement time is typically between 10 to 20 minutes, which may not be suitable for all applications.
Limited measurement range for high U:Pu ratios in MOX packages.
Compliance with various regulations, such as LVD-2014/35/EU, EMC-2014/30/EU, Machinery 2006/42/EC, CE, and UKCA.
