Hydrodemolition

A horizontal, vertical and overhead concrete removal technique that utilizes high-pressure water to remove deteriorated and sound concrete without causing any damage. It is effective in removing concrete from around embedded metal elements such as reinforcing steel, expansion joints, anchorages, conduits, shear connectors, and shear studs. Also, it is used to remove existing coatings from the concrete. Hydrodemolition has applications like  hydro- scarification where ultra high pressure water is used to remove the top surface of a concrete bridge or road surface, that  helps to provide a good micro fracture-free surface for bonding with new, sound concrete.
