Web Crawler Help

A guide for using the Web Crawler module.

One part of the D&D web crawler (Search D&D KM-IT) will provide D&D KM-IT search capability through its own repository of documents including lessons learned, best practices, ALARA reports, videos/pictures, etc. The search can be narrowed down to the pool of important information customized for the D&D community. To use this feature, simply click on the “Search D&D KM-IT” button from within the Web Crawler module to be taken to the search page. Enter the query in the box provided and click the “Search” button.

For the second part of the D&D web crawler (Search WEB), when the user enters a query, the crawler examines its ‘index’ and provides a list of the best-matching returns according to the criteria, usually with a short summary containing the document title or part of the text. The usefulness of the search engine depends on the text it returns. The custom web crawler will search and return the information only from the specified web links it has been provided with; thus, the search can be more refined and categorized. To use this feature, simply click on the “Search WEB” button from within the Web Crawler module to be taken to the search page. Enter the query in the box provided and click the “Search” button.
